In the tournament, jointly hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada for the first time with 48 nations participating, 32 teams advanced after the 72 group stage matches. In the Round of 32, the top two teams from each of the 12 groups will compete, along with 8 teams from the best third-place quota.
