Curtis Miller from South Wales had a terrifying experience during a fishing trip in South Africa. After being attacked by a sand tiger shark, three of Miller's arteries were damaged as a result of the attack on his arm, and he received 91 stitches for his wounds. Despite this unfortunate incident, Miller does not give up on his passion for fishing and expresses his desire to return to South Africa. Miller's mother, on the other hand, was in great shock over what happened to her son.
30-year-old Curtis Miller from South Wales experienced a terrifying incident during a fishing trip in South Africa. A 136-kilogram sand tiger shark he caught attacked him and nearly severed his arm.
Father of two, Miller was trying to remove the hook from the shark's mouth when the animal suddenly thrashed and attacked his arm. As a result of this brutal attack, three of Miller's arteries were damaged, and he required a total of 91 stitches for his wounds.
Miller recounted the incident: "At first, I didn't feel any pain. Then I realized how strong the shark was and saw the amount of blood I had lost. My friends immediately rushed to help, and the local authorities took me to a private hospital. I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time."
Despite this horrific experience, Miller does not give up on his passion for fishing and expresses his desire to return to South Africa: "Our trip was very professionally organized. The team's attention and support were excellent. This was just an unfortunate accident. People shouldn't be afraid of what happened to me and give up on experiencing it. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and I will definitely go again."
While Miller remained calm about the incident, his mother, Helen Miller (60), was in shock when she heard the news: "He called me the day after he left the hospital. I completely lost it. I had a panic attack and had to hand the phone to my husband."
Mother Miller continued: "While talking on the phone, I didn't know if he had lost his leg or his arm. I could only see his face, and he said, 'Mom, I have to tell you something, a shark bit me.' This is a mother's greatest fear."
"While trying to remove the hook, the shark suddenly turned its head and attacked his arm. Despite losing so much blood, he is really very lucky not to have lost his arm."
