As part of the search efforts for the two brothers who fell into the sea and went missing in Sarıyer on November 23, 2023, ship traffic in the Istanbul Strait has been temporarily suspended in both directions.

Search efforts continue for the two brothers who fell into the sea and went missing 42 days ago in Sarıyer. The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure announced that the Bosphorus traffic has been temporarily suspended in both directions as part of the search operations for the missing brothers.

BOSPHORUS TRAFFIC SUSPENDED FOR MISSING BROTHERS

In a statement from the ministry, it was said, "As part of the search operations for the two brothers who fell into the sea in Sarıyer, the ship traffic in the Bosphorus has been temporarily suspended in both directions due to the ongoing search operations in the strait."

WHAT HAPPENED?

On November 23, 2024, Ayşe Can (29) fell into the sea at Aşiyan Beach, and her brother Velat Can (23) jumped into the water after her to save her. The two brothers quickly disappeared from sight due to strong winds and waves. The Coast Guard, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Search and Rescue (İBB İSAK), and the marine police initiated search operations, but no trace of the two brothers was found in all surface and underwater searches conducted.
