Following the warnings from the Meteorology Department, the storm that intensified in the evening hours in Istanbul negatively affected daily life, especially on the European side. Citizens who had difficulty walking on the streets and avenues experienced challenging moments during the storm that emerged with the sudden darkening of the sky, while trees fell on vehicles in many districts, and the roofs of some buildings flew off due to the strong wind. Some planes attempting to land at the city's airports had to circle in the air.
Following the warnings issued by the Turkish State Meteorological Service, the storm intensified its impact across Istanbul in the evening hours.
ESPECIALLY PARALYZED THE EUROPEAN SIDE
The storm was effective in many districts of the city, particularly in Silivri, Esenyurt, Küçükçekmece, Kağıthane, Başakşehir, Avcılar, and Arnavutköy.
VISIBILITY DROPPED, BUILDINGS DISAPPEARED FROM SIGHT
Due to the dust cloud formed by the wind in Küçükçekmece, Sarıyer, Gaziosmanpaşa, Sefaköy, Büyükçekmece, and Başakşehir, visibility dropped in some areas. While drivers proceeded cautiously with their vehicles in traffic, the upper floors of high-rise buildings disappeared from sight.
THOSE CAUGHT ON STREETS AND AVENUES COULD NOT WALK
Some citizens caught unprepared on streets and avenues by the storm were seen struggling to walk.
TREES FELL, ROOFS FLEW OFF
Due to the storm that emerged with the sudden darkening of the sky, trees fell onto vehicles in some districts, while roofs flew off in others.
PLANES COULD NOT LAND
Due to the strong wind and adverse weather conditions, some planes attempting to land at Istanbul and Sabiha Gökçen Airport had to circle in the air.
