With the entry of the opposition into the suburbs of Damascus in Syria, interesting images began to be recorded. It was observed that regime forces were blending in with the public by wearing civilian clothes.

Groups advancing against Bashar al-Assad's regime forces in the southwest of Syria's capital, Damascus, have begun to enter the southern suburbs of the capital. Armed groups that captured the provincial center of Quneitra in the southwest of the country have advanced towards central Damascus. Armed groups clashing with regime forces have entered the Darayya suburb in the south of the capital.

THEY FLED WEARING CIVILIAN CLOTHES

In a video reportedly shared from the city center of Damascus, it was seen that regime elements took off their military uniforms and wore civilian clothes. The footage also observed that some regime army units pulled back to central Damascus and dispersed as a result of the breakdown of their chain of command. It was recorded that regime elements were expelled from the regions of Darayya, Keswa, Sahnaya, Muazamiya, and Harjale, as well as from the settlement areas densely populated by Druze, where posters of Assad were burned and statues were destroyed.

DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA

On November 27, clashes began between Assad regime forces and anti-regime armed groups in the western countryside of Aleppo province in northern Syria. On November 30, anti-regime groups took control of most of central Aleppo from regime forces and established dominance throughout Idlib province on the same day.

After intense clashes, the groups captured the city center of Hama from regime forces on December 5. Anti-regime groups began to advance by capturing some settlements in the strategically important province of Homs, which opens to the capital Damascus. On December 6, military opposition forces launched an operation in Daraa province, near the Jordanian border, and after clashes, they regained control of the provincial center from regime forces.

All of Suwayda province in the south of the country also came under the control of opposition groups on December 7. On the same day, local opposition forces in Quneitra also secured control of the provincial center. In the "Operation Dawn of Freedom" launched by the Syrian National Army against the terrorist organization PKK/YPG in the rural areas of Aleppo on December 1, the district center of Tel Rifaat was liberated from terrorism.
