The son of former minister Abdüllatif Şener, Bedirhan Şener, who killed his grandmother, has been arrested.

The son of former minister Abdüllatif Şener, Bedirhan Şener, who killed his grandmother with a gun in Ankara, has been arrested on charges of "intentional homicide against a superior relative" and "attempted intentional homicide."

Şener, who took his grandmother Leyla Çetiner hostage with a gun after a dispute between them on July 31, was previously subjected to judicial control and a travel ban. It was stated that he was mentally unstable and underwent a forensic medical examination in the detention center. Bedirhan Şener was transferred to Bilkent City Hospital High Security Forensic Psychiatry Hospital and placed under surveillance for 3 weeks.

In the report prepared by Bilkent City Hospital, it was stated that the suspect under observation does not have a mental illness or weakness that would affect his criminal responsibility, and that he is able to perceive the legal meaning and consequences of the crime of "intentional homicide with a firearm against a superior relative" and can fully control his behavior related to this act.

ARRESTED

Based on the findings and evidence collected, Bedirhan Şener has been arrested by the Peace Criminal Court on charges of "intentional homicide against a superior relative" and "attempted intentional homicide against a superior relative."
