The US and Israeli air forces conducted a joint airstrike on the Space Research Institute located in the Tarašt region west of Tehran, the capital of Iran. The institute building, which is of strategic importance for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was completely destroyed and leveled after being hit by missiles.
FIRE BROKE OUT AFTER THE ATTACK
Following the attack, a large-scale fire broke out at the facility, and the smoke that filled the sky was observed from many points in the city.
ITS SIGNIFICANCE FOR IRAN'S BALLISTIC MISSILE PROGRAM IS GREAT
Military sources stated that the targeted facility is a critical center for Iran's ballistic missile program and military satellite activities. After the operation, the area was cordoned off for security, and there has been no official statement from Iranian authorities regarding the scale of the attack and casualties. This move has been recorded as one of the harshest links in the escalating tension in the region.
THE SPACE INSTITUTE OF THE REVOLUTIONARY GUARDS
The Space Institute, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is a strategic center operating under the institution's aviation and space unit, with the primary aim of developing Iran's military satellite capabilities. This institute manages the R&D and production processes of solid-fuel technology-based rocket systems such as Qased and Ghaem-100, which enable the deployment of military satellites, particularly the Noor series, into orbit.
Unlike the civilian space agency, the institute has a more closed and defense-oriented structure, aiming to strengthen Iran's regional intelligence, surveillance, and secure communication network by utilizing the synergy between ballistic missile technology and satellite launch vehicles.
US-ISRAEL ATTACKS ON IRAN
