In the investigation of the Gezi Park events, famous actors Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu were subjected to an investigation for 'false testimony.' The statements made by Ergenç and Kocaoğlu, which led to the initiation of the investigation against them, have been obtained.
Manager Ayşe Barım is under investigation regarding the Gezi Park events, and a probe has been initiated against Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu for 'false testimony'. The statements that led to the investigation against Ergenç and Kocaoğlu have emerged.
Manager Ayşe Barım, who is accused of being one of the planners of the Gezi Park events, was arrested for 'aiding and abetting the attempt to overthrow the Government of the Republic of Turkey or to prevent it from performing its duties.'
Many actors have given statements as 'Witnesses' in the investigation against Barım.
The prosecution has concluded that the statements given by Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu do not reflect the truth and that the two famous individuals made false declarations, leading to a new investigation for 'False Testimony' initiated yesterday.
According to a report by Ceylan Sever from Habertürk; Halit Ergenç stated in his testimony as a witness on January 24 that he met Ayşe Barım in the early 2000s while searching for a management company because he wanted to pursue acting:
HALİT ERGENÇ: OUR RELATIONSHIP IS LIMITED TO BUSINESS
"We never broke off contact because we established a business relationship with Ayşe Barım at that time. I continue my professional career at Ayşe Barım's agency. I also know Memet Ali Alabora from the conservatory. I have no personal relationship; we have encountered each other in a work environment. I do not remember our contact during the period when the Gezi Park protests began; a lot of time has passed. At that time, the country's agenda was, as the public knows, the Gezi Park events. We must have discussed these issues, but I do not recall her suggesting that I participate in the events or directing me. My relationship with Ayşe Barım is limited to business; we were not very close in our private lives."
RIZA KOCAOĞLU: WE DID NOT ENTER INTO A COLLECTIVE MOVEMENT
Rıza Kocaoğlu also stated that he has known Barım for 17 years and has worked with the management company, using the following expressions:
"The phone conversation belongs to us. However, since a long time has passed, I do not remember its content. I do not recall a conversation regarding going to Gezi Park. I am sure that there was no such thing; she did not direct me in that way. We meet with Ayşe Barım a few times a month for business purposes. As artists, we did not have any exit to Gezi Park under the agreement with ID Communication Consultancy. No one can direct me as a manager. I make my own decisions. My news regarding Gezi Park was made during the times I went individually. I did not share the #occupygezi post; at that time, we did not enter into a collective movement as actors."
Both Halit Ergenç and Rıza Kocaoğlu stated that they were not aware of the meetings with Osman Kavala, Çiğdem Mater Utku, and Ayşe Barım, and that they did not know Osman Kavala and Çiğdem Mater Utku.
MONOPOLIZATION INVESTIGATION CONTINUES
There is also a separate investigation being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the allegations that Ayşe Barım has caused monopolization in the industry.
