The Strategic Importance of the Eastern Mediterranean Forum starts tomorrow.

The "Forum on the Strategic Importance of the Eastern Mediterranean," which will be held tomorrow at Eastern Mediterranean University, will bring together important figures from the worlds of politics, academia, and strategy. President Tufan Erhürman is also expected to attend the program, where critical topics ranging from geopolitical developments to energy and economic policies will be discussed.

The "Strategic Importance of the Eastern Mediterranean Forum 2026," which will be hosted by Eastern Mediterranean University and will bring together important international figures, will take place tomorrow (March 27, 2026, Friday) in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. The event, held at the Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center in Famagusta, will address many topics ranging from geopolitical developments to energy policies.

PRESIDENT ERHÜRMAN IS EXPECTED TO ATTEND

The program will start in the morning with registration and refreshments, followed by opening speeches. Notable figures from academia, politics, and international relations will take the floor during the opening. Eastern Mediterranean University Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç, USKAID President Av. Selman Yaray, various members of parliament, and senior officials will address the participants. In addition to the Minister of Economy and Energy of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Olgun Amcaoğlu, President Tufan Erhürman is also expected to attend the program.

GEOPOLITICS AND INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS WILL BE DISCUSSED

In the first session of the program, regional and global developments will be evaluated under the title "Geopolitics and International Relations." The session, moderated by security expert Coşkun Başbuğ, will feature expert academics sharing their views on international balances, security policies, and strategic approaches.

In the first session, speakers will include: Prof. Dr. Nurşin Ateşoğlu Güney from the National Intelligence Academy, Prof. Dr. Hasan Ünal from Başkent University, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Yalçın Sarıkaya, Head of the International Relations Department at Giresun University, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, and Prof. Dr. Uğur Özgöker, Head of the International Relations Department at Istanbul Arel University, Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences, and Vice President of DMW - International Diplomats Association.

ENERGY, ECONOMY, AND LAW TOPICS WILL BE ADDRESSED IN THE SECOND SESSION

In the second session of the day, energy, economy, and law topics will come to the forefront. The session, moderated by former State Minister Prof. Dr. Yüksel Yalova, will comprehensively discuss energy strategies, economic developments, and legal regulations. The program will also cover current topics such as artificial intelligence and probabilistic modeling.

In the second session, speakers will include: Prof. Dr. Vedat Yorucu from Eastern Mediterranean University, Faculty of Business and Economics, Prof. Dr. Cemal Zehir, Strategy Expert from Yıldız Technical University, Faculty of Business and Economics, Mehmet Öğütçü, President of Global Resources Partnership, Former Diplomat and Energy Strategist, Assistant Prof. Dr. Aylin G. Gürzel Aka from the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University, Gökhan Güler, Secretary General of the Mediterranean Strategic Research Center of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, and Dr. Ekrem Teymur, Expert in Artificial Intelligence & Probabilistic Modeling.

THE PROGRAM WILL CONCLUDE WITH A PLAQUE CEREMONY

The all-day event will conclude with a plaque ceremony in the evening. The program is expected to shed light on regional and global issues by bringing together important figures from academia, politics, and the world of strategy.
