Zeynettin Delen, a street vendor in Adana, stated that he has been fighting to get a divorce from his wife for 5 years, saying, "I can't get divorced because my wife said 'I don't want a divorce' once in court. Our chance of reconciliation is zero. I want to get divorced and start a new life, maybe I will get married again. Millions of people are getting divorced, but we can't." He asked for help from the authorities.

56-year-old street vendor Zeynettin Delen, who lives in Adana, married M.D. (50) 30 years ago. The couple had 5 children from this marriage, but in 2016, they began to experience incompatibility. Due to this incompatibility, Zeynettin Delen left the house. Having lived separately from his wife for 10 years, Delen filed for divorce in 2021, but M.D. stated in court that she did not want a divorce. After the hearing, the court dismissed the couple's case.

Zeynettin Delen, who has not seen his children, applied again to the 12th Family Court last year to get a divorce. In the hearing held on January 20, 2026, the court again did not grant the divorce and postponed the case to May 14, 2026.

"OUR CHANCE OF RECONCILIATION IS ZERO, MY 5 CHILDREN DID NOT CALL ME"

Describing his experiences, Zeynettin Delen stated that he has been fighting for a divorce, saying, "I have been living separately from my wife for 10 years. I filed for divorce, but when my wife said 'I do not want a divorce' in court, the judge did not grant the divorce. The judge told me 'you will convince your wife,' but my wife is not willing to be convinced to divorce. I cannot hire a lawyer, I have no money. Our chance of reconciliation is zero. 2 of my daughters are married, and not one of them has called me to say 'forgive me.' I have 5 children, but it has been 10 years, 20 holidays have passed, and not one of them has called me," he expressed.

"MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE GETTING DIVORCED, WE CANNOT GET DIVORCED"

Delen claimed that the lawyer demanded 100,000 lira from him for the divorce case, saying, "This is not a big issue. There is no inheritance, no salary, no property. I cannot get along with this woman and I want a divorce. We are not doing anything illegal. I want this situation to be resolved. I want to get divorced and start a new life, maybe I will get married. If it is meant to be, I will get married; how long will this continue? Millions of people are getting divorced, we cannot get divorced," he said.
