The sudden flood disaster that occurred in the town of Cadaques in the Catalonia region of Spain caused significant damage. Just a week after the flood disaster in Valencia, which claimed the lives of more than 200 people, a new disaster struck, with 32 vehicles swept away by the floodwaters due to heavy rainfall. According to the Catalan meteorological agency Meteocat, rainfall intensified between 02:00 and 03:00 at night, with over 100 millimeters of rain recorded. The floodwaters, caused by the overflow of a nearby river, led to a major flood in the stream that runs through the city center. Mayor Pia Serinyana stated that despite the municipality's prior warnings, vehicles parked in the area were swept away by the floodwaters. Most of the swept-away vehicles piled up on the bridge in front of the city casino. Among the damaged vehicles were those belonging to foreign tourists. The incident occurring at night prevented a possible tragedy. A local resident commented, "If this raging water flow had passed through the town during the day, there could have been mass casualties." Miraculously, there were no fatalities in the disaster, and only material damage occurred. While rainfall warnings continue for northeastern Catalonia, the meteorological service predicts that the rainfall will ease over the weekend. Meanwhile, the death toll from the flood disaster in the Valencia region last week has exceeded 200, and 78 people are still unaccounted for. In the town of Paiporta in Valencia, more than 60 people lost their lives due to a wave of water from the Poyo canal.
