In the Bornova district of İzmir, 70-year-old Rüstem Teker, who shot his cancer-stricken wife İzadiye Teker while she was sleeping at home, explained the reason for the incident in his statement to the police. Teker stated that their psychology had deteriorated and that they had frequently argued during this process, which led him to commit the murder.
Rüstem Teker (70), in İzmir's Bornova district, shot and killed his cancer-stricken wife İzadiye Teker (69) while she was sleeping in bed at home. It has been reported that Rüstem Teker stated in his testimony that their psychology deteriorated during his wife's cancer treatment process and that they frequently argued during this time.
HE SHOT HIS CANCER-STRICKEN WIFE WITH A GUN
The incident occurred yesterday around 20:30 in 5173rd Street, Rafetpaşa Neighborhood. Rüstem Teker shot his cancer-stricken wife İzadiye Teker while she was sleeping in bed at home. Rüstem Teker then called the 112 Emergency Call Center, stating that he had shot his wife.
Upon the notification, police and medical teams were dispatched to the address. The teams determined in their initial examination at the scene that İzadiye Teker had lost her life. Teams from the Public Order Branch took Rüstem Teker into custody. İzadiye Teker's body was taken to the İzmir Forensic Medicine Institution morgue.
"OUR PSYCHOLOGY DETERIORATED A LOT"
It has been learned that Rüstem Teker, who is undergoing procedures at the police station, stated that they had an argument with his wife on the night of the incident, saying, "My wife has been suffering from lymphoma for 6 years. Her treatment is ongoing. During this process, our psychology deteriorated a lot. Along with this, we frequently had arguments. I am sorry."
