The Syrian National Army (SNA), which has cleared the west of the Euphrates River from the PKK/YPG terrorist organization, has revealed its new target. The SNA is preparing to enter the Suleyman Shah Tomb. SNA IS ADVANCING TOWARDS SULEYMAN SHAH TOMBThe SNA forces, which have liberated the PKK/YPG terrorist organization from Manbij, have turned their course towards the Suleyman Shah Tomb. A temporary ceasefire has been declared between the SNA soldiers who reached the banks of the Euphrates River and the PKK/YPG terrorists, and it has been learned that negotiations are being held regarding the withdrawal of the PKK/YPG terrorist organization from the Suleyman Shah Tomb. WILL THE SULEYMAN SHAH TOMB BE RELOCATED TO ITS OLD PLACE?On the other hand, the Ministry of National Defense had made a statement regarding whether the tomb of Suleyman Shah would be relocated after the village of Karakozak in northern Syria was cleared of terrorism. Ministry sources stated the following in response to questions about whether the tomb of Suleyman Shah would be relocated to its old place after the village of Karakozak in northern Syria was cleared of terrorism: "The advance of the Syrian National Army in the region and the operations to clear terrorism are still ongoing. We are closely monitoring the developments. This issue will be evaluated if suitable conditions arise in the field." SULEYMAN SHAH TOMBThe Suleyman Shah Tomb holds great historical, cultural, and national significance for Turkey. The Suleyman Shah Honor Guard Post and Tomb is the only piece of land outside Turkey where Turkey has sovereignty rights. The tomb, located 30 kilometers from Turkey, is the resting place of Suleyman Shah, the grandfather of Osman Gazi, the founder of the Ottoman Empire, and the father of Ertugrul Gazi. After the collapse of the Ottoman Empire, according to the Ankara Agreement signed on October 20, 1921, and the Lausanne Agreement signed on July 24, 1923, the Suleyman Shah Tomb was recognized as Turkish territory. As a result of these agreements, Turkey obtained the right to station guards and raise its flag at the Suleyman Shah Tomb located in the Caber Castle area. In the mid-1960s, it was planned to build the Tabqa Dam on the Euphrates River, posing a risk of submerging Caber Castle. The Syrian government began negotiations with Turkey regarding the relocation of the Suleyman Shah Tomb. After prolonged negotiations, it was decided to relocate the tomb near the village of Karakozak on the Aleppo-Hasakeh road. In 1973, the tomb was moved to an area of 10,096 square meters in Karakozak Village. After the outbreak of the civil war in Syria in March 2011, the rising threat of ISIS affected the Suleyman Shah Tomb. In March 2014, ISIS captured Karakozak Village. Ankara launched the "Shah Fırat Operation" targeting the Suleyman Shah Tomb and its surroundings on February 21-22, 2015. As a result of the operation, the tomb was relocated to Eşme Village, 180 meters from the Turkish border.
