Since coming to power in Afghanistan, the Taliban has gradually imposed restrictions on women's lives, most recently banning Afghan women from sitting by the window at home and looking outside. 4-POINT DECREEIn a 4-point decree published on social media on Saturday, it was stated that the order of Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada applies to both new buildings and existing ones. The decree included the following statements: "Windows should not overlook areas such as courtyards or kitchens, nor should they be able to see these areas. If a window overlooks such an area, the person responsible for the property must find a way to 'eliminate the harm' by concealing this view with a wall, fence, or curtain. Municipalities and other authorities must supervise the construction of new buildings to ensure that windows do not open to or overlook residential areas." NGOs EMPLOYING WOMEN WILL BE CLOSEDOn the other hand, the Taliban, which previously banned women from working in civil society organizations in Afghanistan, announced that it would also close all local and foreign civil society groups that employ women. The Taliban stated that women working in civil society organizations were violating Sharia law by not wearing headscarves and had banned women from participating in NGO activities. The Afghan Ministry of Economy warned in a social media post that failure to comply with the latest order would lead to NGOs losing their licenses to operate in Afghanistan.
