In Adana, one of Turkey's important production centers, the price of mandarins in the garden has dropped to as low as 8 TL, starting from 15 TL. However, in supermarkets and markets, the price of mandarins is 70 TL.

Harvesting continues in Çukurova, one of the centers of production, for many products. The mandarin, a vitamin store of the autumn and winter months, has pleased producers with its yield.

THE MOST AFFORDABLE FRUIT OF THE SEASON

The mandarin, which was sold for 15 TL on the tree but has now dropped to 8 TL, has become the most affordable fruit of the season. While harvesting in the Bucak region of the Kozan district continues at full speed, workers are working hard from the first light of the morning. This year, due to drought and frost, the yield of oranges and lemons has decreased, while the mandarin has brought smiles to both producers and citrus workers.

PRICE DROPPED, TRADERS ARE STRUGGLING TO HARVEST

Mehmet Kopçak, who is harvesting in a 10-decare garden, said, "We started the first harvest of mandarin at 15 TL, but it has now dropped to 8 TL. The yield is good, but other citrus products, especially lemons and oranges, are very low this year. The Bucak region is an important production center known for its registered flavors when it comes to oranges in Adana. The mandarin, with its unique aroma, is in high demand in the region. We harvested 580 crates with 20 people in the garden. However, as the mandarin has dropped to 8 TL on the tree, traders are struggling to get the harvest done, and we are also having difficulty finding work," he said.

"WE THOUGHT WE WOULD BE UNEMPLOYED DUE TO FROST"

Meryem Durmuş, one of the agricultural workers, said, "Our work starts at 6 in the morning, and we harvest for 8 hours. This year, the mandarin harvest went very well. We were afraid we would be unemployed due to the frost, but God provided for us," she said.

Another worker, Ayşe Kocakaplan, also stated, "We filled 580 crates; we thought there wouldn't be any product due to the cold, but the mandarins turned out very well."
