The former Mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, Lütfü Savaş, will give a statement on February 25 at 11:00 AM as part of the investigation conducted by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress.

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had been notified of a complaint regarding the alleged manipulation of the delegates' will for the annulment of the CHP's 38th Ordinary Congress.

SUMMONED FOR TESTIMONY

In response, the former Mayor of Hatay Metropolitan Municipality, Lütfü Savaş, had filed a lawsuit in the Civil Court for the annulment of the Congress. Following this, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office summoned Savaş to provide his testimony on February 25 as part of the ongoing investigation regarding the Congress. It was learned that after giving his statement, Savaş would hold a press conference in front of the courthouse with his lawyer Onur Yusuf Üregen.

"IF NO CRIME HAD BEEN COMMITTED, THE ELECTION WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN FAVOR OF THE OTHER CANDIDATE"

In the lawsuit petition, Savaş, who requested the removal of the party administration, stated, "If no crime had been committed in the context of will manipulation, it would be clear that if 10 votes had been cast for the other candidate instead of the current chairman, the election would have resulted in favor of the other candidate. If crimes such as bribery had not been committed in the context of will manipulation, the losing candidate would have won the Congress by a significant margin and would have been elected as the chairman," he had expressed.

EXPELLED IN DECEMBER

The CHP Disciplinary Board expelled former Hatay Metropolitan Mayor Lütfü Savaş from the party last December as a result of a disciplinary investigation, due to his statement on social media, "Today's CHP is busy being DEM'ed. As a party, we cannot defend anyone who has ties to terrorism or exploits terrorism for political gain, regardless of who they are or what organization they belong to."
