It has been revealed that the claims in the news about a convict being "tortured" by prison guards at Manisa Akhisar T-Type Closed Penitentiary Institution do not reflect the truth. Contrary to the allegations, all camera recordings related to the incident were submitted to the prosecutor's office, and as a result of the investigations, a non-prosecution decision was made regarding the staff. It was stated that the prison guards intervened to ensure security.
The truth behind the news alleging that a convict was tortured by prison guards at Manisa Akhisar T-Type Closed Penitentiary Institution turned out to be completely different. According to information obtained from judicial sources, it was stated that these allegations do not reflect the truth and that a non-prosecution decision was made regarding the officials in the judicial process carried out concerning the incident.
THE BACKGROUND OF THE INCIDENT According to information obtained from judicial sources, the incident occurred on February 7, 2025, in ward A-23 of the prison. It was claimed that during a fight among convicts, Volkan Ayvazlı attacked another convict in the same ward with a sharp tool he made from a padlock using his own means.

It was stated that when assistance was requested during the altercation, the prison guards who entered the ward intervened to ensure security, and the convict, who was reported to have maintained an aggressive attitude, was subdued and taken out of the ward.
RESPONSE TO THE CLAIM THAT "CAMERA RECORDINGS WERE HIDDEN" All footage from the ward and corridor cameras related to the incident was delivered to the Akhisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office in its entirety. It was noted that claims in some media outlets that "camera recordings were hidden" or "cameras were turned off" do not reflect the truth.
THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE ISSUED A NON-PROSECUTION DECISION It was stated that within the scope of the investigation conducted by the Akhisar Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the camera recordings and other evidence were examined in detail. As a result of the evaluations, it was determined that the prison guards did not engage in any act of injury or mistreatment, and therefore, a decision was made on March 20, 2025, that there was no need for prosecution against the officials.
Inmate injured after the fight DISCIPLINARY AND JUDICIAL PROCESSES CONTINUE Judicial sources stated that in the report prepared by the institution's disciplinary authority regarding the incident, it was assessed that the officials had no intent, fault, or negligence. It was learned that disciplinary procedures were applied against the convicts involved in the fight, and the judicial investigation into the incident continues from different aspects.
