The floodwaters created by Storm Bert engulfed the town of Tenbury Wells in Worcestershire within seconds yesterday. A brick wall collapsed due to the overflow of the nearby Kyre Brook, and the waters began to flow towards the main street. Rescue teams were shouting "get back" to locals trying to escape the rising waters. The storm has claimed at least five lives so far and continues to have a devastating impact with winds reaching up to 132 kilometers per hour. Families were evacuated from their homes due to a major landslide that occurred this morning in Cwmtillery, in the Abertillery area of Wales. The former mining town was left buried in mud and sludge. Vehicles were trapped, and large mounds of earth were blocking residents' access. Workers are making intense efforts to clear the roads. Currently, there are more than 160 red flood warnings and 211 amber flood alerts across England. The warnings cover the southwest, Midlands, Yorkshire, and northwest regions. Many major train lines and roads are closed. A rare severe flood warning has been issued for the River Dene in Northamptonshire. It is reported that the deep and fast-flowing floodwaters pose a "life-threatening" risk. Locals are advised to leave the area immediately to avoid the floodwaters and to call 999 if they become trapped. There are two more severe flood warnings for the River Monnow in southeast Wales. There are currently 21 red flood warnings and 36 amber flood alerts across Wales. A yellow wind warning is in effect until 5:00 PM today for central and western Scotland. The storm will pull away to sea after bringing winds of up to 113 kilometers per hour along the coastline. Delays in transportation, brief power outages, and large waves along the coast are expected.
