In the Silifke district of Mersin, the trailer of a truck carrying fish waste exploded while in motion. As a result of the explosion, approximately 15 tons of fish waste scattered onto the D-400 Highway, and traffic was controlled for a while. After the cleaning efforts by the teams, the road was reopened to traffic.
Approximately 15 tons of fish waste spilled onto the highway in the Silifke district of Mersin after an explosion occurred in the trailer of a truck carrying fish waste. Following the incident, the road was opened to traffic under control for a while, and transportation returned to normal after cleanup efforts.
EXPLOSION IN THE TRAILER
The incident occurred on the D-400 Highway in the Silifke-Mut direction. An explosion took place while the truck, loaded with fish waste destined for Muğla from a fish processing plant in Silifke, was in motion. Due to the explosion, the cargo in the trailer scattered onto the road, spilling approximately 15 tons of fish waste onto the highway.
TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED UNDER CONTROL
Upon notification, police and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the scene. Security measures were taken in the area, and traffic was managed under control for a while.
While highway teams conducted inspections and security work on the road, some vehicles were temporarily directed to side roads.
ROAD CLEANED AND REOPENED
The fish waste scattered on the highway was removed by the teams of the cargo owner using construction machinery and cleaning vehicles. After the work was completed, the road was reopened to traffic.
USED IN FISH FEED PRODUCTION
Meanwhile, it was learned that the fish waste sent from Silifke to Muğla is processed into fish feed at facilities operating in the region.
