THEY PULLED JASMINE FROM BROADCAST
The Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) had initiated an investigation on the grounds that the series was "contrary to general morality, family structure, and social values." Following this step by RTÜK, the TV+ platform, which has a joint licensing agreement with HBO Max, also decided to withdraw the series from broadcast.
RTÜK HAD INITIATED AN INVESTIGATION
Furthermore, in a statement made by RTÜK regarding the issue, the following expressions were included: "Attention of the Public! An investigation has been initiated by the Radio and Television Supreme Council regarding the production titled 'Jasmine,' which targets the family structure that forms the foundation of Turkish society, clearly contradicts our national and spiritual values, exploits women, and contains content that is contrary to general morality.
As RTÜK, we emphasize our sensitivity that broadcasting activities should not harm the moral values of society, its cultural fabric, and especially the institution of family at every opportunity. Considering the effects of content published on digital platforms on broad segments of society, especially young people and children, this responsibility becomes even more significant.
"NECESSARY STEPS WILL BE TAKEN WITH DETERMINATION"
Investigations are being meticulously carried out by our Monitoring and Evaluation Experts against broadcasts that undermine our family structure, target our social values, and disturb the public conscience through normalization; necessary steps will be taken with determination within the framework of the relevant legislation.
The Radio and Television Supreme Council will continue its duty to protect the moral and cultural values of society with determination, just as it has in the past, and will continue to take all necessary measures against broadcasts that target the family institution and undermine the social structure. Respectfully announced to the public."
