The UK announced that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham in Syria has been removed from the list of banned terrorist organizations, and this decision was made to strengthen relations with the new government in Syria.
England has announced that Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), which is on the list of terrorist organizations, has been removed from the list.
ENGLAND REMOVED HTS FROM THE LIST OF TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS
In a written statement from the Home Office and the Foreign Office, it was stated that the government has decided to remove HTS from the list of banned terrorist organizations.
It was emphasized that this decision means establishing closer relations with the new Syrian government and supporting England's foreign and domestic policy priorities, such as counter-terrorism, migration, and the destruction of chemical weapons.
"ENGLAND'S RESPONSE TO DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA"
The statement said, "The removal of HTS from the list is part of England's response to significant developments in Syria since the forces led by President Ahmed Shara overthrew the Assad regime last December."
It was noted that the terrorist organization ISIS continues to pose a significant threat in Syria, and the lifting of the ban on HTS would support the new government's participation in the anti-ISIS mission, thereby reducing the threat to England.
It was emphasized that lifting the ban on HTS would also support closer cooperation with Syria to eliminate the chemical weapons program of the ousted Assad regime, and it was stated that the English government welcomed Shara's commitment to definitively destroy these weapons. On April 24, England lifted sanctions against 12 institutions and organizations, including the Ministries of Defense and Interior in Syria.
