Melissa Akcan, who lost her life in a fire that broke out after she locked the door and left five children in the Selçuk district of İzmir, made striking claims after the Ministry announced that 110,705 TL had been paid within a year. In response to the question, "Are there claims that 110 thousand lira assistance was provided to you, is this true?" Akcan said, "I did not receive 110 thousand lira assistance, let alone 100 thousand, I never received any help. On the contrary, I was receiving 8 thousand lira assistance, and they reduced it to 4 thousand lira. How can I take care of my 5 children with this four thousand lira?" Akcan's parents also reiterated that their daughter did not receive 100 thousand lira assistance from the state.
