A striking move has come from the United States, which is continuing its war with Iran. As the ongoing war in Syria and the regional power struggle cast a shadow, the balance is being reshaped. Following the withdrawal of coalition forces led by the United States, the Syrian army has taken control of the Rumeylan Base in Hasakah; previously, the bases of Tanf, Kasrak, and Shaddadi had also passed to the Damascus administration.
As the war between the US-Israel and Iran continues with full intensity on its 16th day, a notable step has come from the US administration.
CONTROL OF THE BASE HAS PASSED TO THE SYRIAN ARMY
Syrian state television announced that the control of the Rumeilan Base located in Hasakah province has passed to the Syrian army. The report stated that after the coalition forces led by the US withdrew from the region, the Syrian army deployed to the base and took over control.
After the withdrawal of US forces, the Syrian army had also taken control of the Tanf, Al-Hasakah, and Shaddadi bases. With these developments, it is assessed that the Damascus administration is gradually increasing its military presence in the northeast of the country.
MAINTAINING ITS PRESENCE IN HASEKE
On the other hand, the US army continues its presence at certain points in Hasakah. It is reported that American forces are still operating at deployment points named "Harab Cir" and "Life Stone."
The new administration in Syria is also trying to expand its influence in areas controlled by the terrorist organization PKK/SDF. An agreement was reached between the parties following the clashes that occurred between the Syrian army and SDF forces at the beginning of 2026.
The agreement in question envisions the gradual integration of military and civilian institutions under SDF control into the Syrian state structure. It is stated that within this process, the security and administrative structure in the region is being reshaped.
