It has been revealed that Khurriyat Tursunboeva, who was reported missing in 2019 by her sister Sevara Zakhidova in Maltepe, Istanbul, was killed by her husband Ersin Y. and after being kept for a month, her body was dismembered and thrown into a trash container. Ersin Y., who killed Tursunboeva, and his friend Anıl Y., who was found to have assisted him after the incident, were taken into custody and referred to the courthouse.
The teams of the Missing Persons Bureau of the Istanbul Police Department, under the instruction of Provincial Police Chief Selami Yıldız, have initiated a renewed investigation into old missing persons cases. In this context, the missing report made by Uzbekistan national Sevara Zakhıdova for her brother Khurriyat Tursunboeva in 2019 was re-examined.
"MY WIFE WAS DEPORTED," HE SAID
The teams that went to the woman's house in Maltepe consulted the neighbors for information. It was learned that the neighbors told the police that at that time, Ersin Y.'s wife was deported and sent back to her country. Neighbors, who noted that bad smells were coming from the apartment during the same period, reported that Ersin Y. claimed the smell was due to him raising pigeons. The investigation revealed that Tursunboeva had not left the country and that the mobile phone registered in her name was active in Turkey during that time.
"I WAS LEFT," HE FILED FOR DIVORCE
The police teams also took the statement of Sevara Zakhıdova, the sister who filed the missing report. During the interviews, it was learned that there was severe incompatibility between the couple. Additionally, it was determined that shortly after Ersin Y. filed the missing report, he filed for divorce on the grounds that he was 'abandoned,' and the court decided to divorce after Tursunboeva did not respond to the case for 5 years.
GRANDPARENTS TOOK CARE OF THE CHILDREN
As the investigations continued, it was determined that the couple had two children, and that the children's grandparents living in Didim, Aydın, were taking care of them.
USED A FRIEND'S IDENTITY
It was revealed that after the incident, Ersin Y. used his friend Anıl Y.'s identity to travel to different cities and countries. After the missing report, it was determined that the SIM cards belonging to Tursunboeva and Ersin Y. were changed and that the bills for the lines were paid regularly.
BLOOD TRACE FOUND AFTER 7 YEARS
Approximately 7 years later, during the crime scene investigation at the couple's residence, blood reactions were detected in some areas of the kitchen and balcony during the 'luminol' test.
2 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
Ersin Y., who was determined to have exited Georgia on March 9 and entered Turkey through the Sarp Border Gate in Artvin, and his friend Anıl Y. in Istanbul were arrested and taken into custody in simultaneous operations.
CONFESSED TO THE MURDER
During the interrogation at the Public Order Branch, Ersin Y. stated in his testimony that he had an argument with his wife in the kitchen, hit her on the head with a stick during the argument, and that his wife died. He explained that he first left the body on the balcony of the house, covered it with garden soil he bought from the market the next day, and poured lime to prevent the smell when it continued. The suspect stated that when the smell did not stop, he took the body to the kitchen, dismembered it, placed it in three bags, and threw it into a trash container about 50 meters away from their home. He also mentioned that he handed over his children to his friend Anıl Y. who came by bus from Aydın to his family at the Gebze Bus Station.
"DUE TO SEVERE INCOMPATIBILITY"
When Ersin Y. was asked why he committed the murder, he claimed that his wife's sister Sevara Zakhıdova sent him private images of Tursunboeva with her ex-boyfriend, and that his wife was still in contact with her ex-boyfriend while they were married, which led to an argument that escalated into a fight, resulting in the murder.
SHOWED THE PLACE WHERE HE DISPOSED OF THE BODY
The other suspect, Anıl Y., stated that he was unaware of the murder, that he only gave his ID to his friend, and that he helped him take the children to the Gebze Bus Station. After the statements, Ersin Y. conducted a location demonstration for the investigation prosecutor, explaining the murder and showing the place where he claimed to have disposed of the body. Those moments were recorded by a mobile phone camera.
THEY WERE REFERRED TO THE COURT
After completing their procedures at the police station, Ersin Y. and Anıl Y. were referred to the Anadolu Courthouse in Kartal.
