Out of 286 defendants tried for forging documents using the e-signatures of managers in public institutions, 257 were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment. The ringleader, Ziya Kadiroğlu, was sentenced to 116 years and 3 months in prison, while 29 defendants were acquitted.

The verdict has been announced in the case opened against 286 defendants regarding the forgery of official documents using e-signatures by managers in some public institutions.

VERDICT REACHED IN E-SIGNATURE CASE

The hearing, held in the courtroom at the Sincan Penal Institutions Campus by the Ankara 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance, was attended by 29 detained defendants, including the ringleader Ziya Kadiroğlu, some non-detained defendants, and lawyers from both sides.

The judge stated that the hearing would continue with defenses and gave the floor to the lawyers.

The defense lawyers argued that their clients were innocent and requested acquittal and release. The plaintiff's lawyers demanded that the defendants be punished with the maximum sentence.

After the statements, the defendants, who were asked for their final remarks, claimed they were innocent and requested acquittal and release.

GANG LEADER SENTENCED TO 116 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS IN PRISON

Then, the judge read out the verdict regarding the defendants. Accordingly, the defendant Ziya Kadiroğlu, who was listed as an "organization leader" in the indictment, was sentenced to 116 years and 3 months in prison for the crimes of "establishing an organization to commit crimes," "forgery of official documents," "unlawfully obtaining personal data," "violation of the ÖSYM Law," and "accessing an information system."

While 256 defendants received prison sentences ranging from 3 years and 4 months to 94 years and 10 months for various crimes, 29 defendants were acquitted.

FROM THE INDICTMENT

In the indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, prison sentences ranging from 6 to 45 years were sought for 134 defendants for the crimes of "violation of the ÖSYM Law," "forgery of official documents," "accessing an information system," and "unlawfully obtaining data."

Meanwhile, the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office prepared an indictment against 65 individuals for the same crimes and sent it to the Ankara 23rd Criminal Court of First Instance.

Additionally, another indictment prepared by the Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the same crimes within the scope of the third wave of operations regarding the forgery of official documents using e-signatures, involving 123 defendants including the alleged ringleader Ziya Kadiroğlu, codenamed "Hoca," was merged with the existing case.

At this stage, the total number of defendants reached 286.
