The 16 and 17-year-old suspects who killed a 22-year-old young man in a armed attack in front of security cameras while withdrawing money from an ATM in Samsun were sentenced to 16 years and 4 months in prison.
On November 14, 224, a chilling incident occurred in the Atakent neighborhood of Atakum district in Samsun. According to the information obtained, Ali Gültekin (22) was shot while withdrawing money from an ATM, suffering serious injuries to his neck and head. The injured was taken to Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The armed assailants fled the scene. THEY TURNED OUT TO BE CRIME MACHINES The police determined that the incident was carried out by K.D. (17), who has 6 criminal records, and that M.A. (17) with 2 criminal records and S.K. (16) with 8 criminal records were with him at the time of the incident. The three children surrendered to the police along with the weapon they used in the crime next to Derecik Cemetery. K.D., M.A., and S.K., who were taken into custody, were handed over to the Child Branch of the Samsun Police Department. After their procedures were completed, K.D., M.A., and S.K. were arrested by the court they were brought before and sent to prison.

A case was filed against K.D., M.A., and S.K. at the Samsun 4th High Criminal Court. During the trial phase, due to the possibility of a change in the nature of the crime, S.K. was released to be tried without detention.
16 YEARS AND 4 MONTHS OF PRISON SENTENCE WAS IMPOSED In the final hearing of the case held today at the Samsun 4th High Criminal Court, K.D., who was shown to have fired the weapon, and M.A., who was with him, were initially sentenced to life imprisonment. Since the defendants were 17 years old at the time of the incident, their sentences were reduced, and each was sentenced to a total of 16 years and 4 months in prison: 15 years for "intentional killing" and 1 year and 4 months for "possession of an unlicensed weapon." The court did not apply any reduction for remorse or good behavior and decided to continue their detention. S.K., who was tried without detention, was acquitted.
