The United States has called on its citizens living in Iran, which it frequently threatens to strike, to "immediately leave the country." In a message sent to its citizens from the embassy regarding the tensions in the country, it was suggested that they travel to Turkey and Armenia using individual means.
The United States government issued an urgent warning to its citizens in the country, citing increasing security risks due to ongoing public protests in Iran that have resulted in numerous casualties. Supporting the protesters, the U.S. prioritized the safety of its citizens and provided a series of recommendations.
"LEAVE IRAN IMMEDIATELY"
In a security alert published by the U.S. Virtual Embassy in Tehran, it was stated that U.S. citizens should make their own exit plans from Iran without needing assistance from the Washington administration. The statement emphasized the urgency of the situation by using the phrase, "Leave Iran immediately."
TURKEY AND ARMENIA RECOMMENDED
A specific route was also suggested for citizens leaving the country. The call stated, "If you find a safe route, consider traveling by road to Turkey or Armenia," emphasizing that crossing into neighboring countries by road is an option.
MEASURES FOR THOSE UNABLE TO LEAVE THE COUNTRY
A series of security measures were outlined for U.S. citizens who cannot leave Iran immediately. The warnings for these individuals included:
- Avoiding demonstrations and crowded areas.
- Being careful not to attract attention and being cautious about those around them.
- Monitoring local media to follow the latest developments.
- Being prepared to change plans in case of emergencies.
- Keeping phones charged to maintain communication.
- Continuously informing family and friends about the situation.
U.S.: MILITARY FORCE ON THE TABLE
White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt stated that U.S. President Donald Trump preferred diplomacy regarding Iran but always kept the option of military force on the table.
PROTESTS IN IRAN
The protests initiated by shopkeepers in Tehran's Grand Bazaar on December 28, 2025, spread to many cities across the country.
While no official statement was made regarding the dead or injured in the protests, the Iran Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported today in its report on the 17th day of the protests that the number of people who died due to the protests has risen to 2,550, including 2,403 protesters, 12 of whom were under eighteen, and 147 security personnel.
With the increase in violent incidents and police intervention during the protests, internet access was cut off nationwide on January 9.
