The video recorded by Umutcan and Melisa Şimşek, siblings who were found murdered at home with their throats slit by their mother in Sivas, has emerged. The video, recorded by Umutcan, features the phrase "See you in 10 years," and it has broken the hearts of those who watched it.
On May 6, a chilling incident occurred in an apartment located on 55th Street in Kılavuz Neighborhood, Sivas. Siblings Umutcan (22) and national athlete Melisa Şimşek (16) were found dead at home, having been killed by their mother, Ayşegül Şimşek, who slit their throats. It was determined that Melisa Şimşek's hands were tied before her murder, and police teams captured the murder suspect, Hüseyin Sönmez (34), in Ankara after reviewing 25 hours of camera footage.
THE KILLER OF THE SIBLINGS HAS BEEN ARRESTED
Sönmez claimed in his statement to the prosecutor that he came to the city to meet with mother Ayşegül Şimşek to collect a debt of 500,000 lira he had given to the children’s father, Uğur Şimşek, five years ago. Hüseyin Sönmez, who asserted that he did not kill the children, was arrested by the court and sent to prison. It was determined that the father of the murdered siblings, Uğur Şimşek, has been missing for 5 years and the last person he was seen with was Hüseyin Sönmez.
DOUBLE LIFE IMPRISONMENT IS SOUGHT
The indictment requested a double life sentence for the suspect Hüseyin Sönmez for the crimes of "intentional murder with premeditation, with monstrous feelings or inflicting torture" against Melisa Şimşek, and for "murder with premeditation, with monstrous feelings or inflicting torture" against Umutcan Şimşek.
