Aksaray Culture and Tourism Director Abdullah Oğuz stated, "With the withdrawal of water, beautiful salt masses have been shared on social media in recent days, becoming the focus of interest for amateur and professional photographers."
SALT MASSES HAVE EMERGED In Tuz Lake, located in the Central Anatolia Region, salt masses have emerged due to the withdrawal of water caused by drought. Tuz Lake, which is located within the borders of Aksaray, Konya, and Ankara and has a closed basin feature, not only meets a large part of Turkey's salt needs but also draws attention with its natural beauty. Approximately 40 kilometers south of Tuz Lake, fresh water taken from Hirfanlı Dam as part of the Tuz Lake Natural Gas Storage Project is used to dissolve the underground salt masses, and natural gas is stored in the caves created. The resulting salty water is discharged into Tuz Lake through pipelines. After the withdrawal of water due to drought and heat, layered salt masses in various shapes have created beautiful images.
"WE ARE OBSERVING THE DROUGHT IN TUZ LAKE" Stating that various shapes of salt masses have formed in Tuz Lake due to the withdrawal of water, Provincial Culture and Tourism Director Abdullah Oğuz said, "Recently, flamingos have continued their lives with the water provided by BOTAŞ to the region. With the withdrawal of this water, beautiful salt masses have started to be shared on social media in recent days. Subsequently, they became the focus of interest for amateur and professional photographers. This pleases us greatly. There was significant snowfall last November. Currently, we have a temperature above normal conditions. We are observing this situation in Tuz Lake due to droughts. Therefore, the water provided by the BOTAŞ institution is very valuable for the revival of life there. It is very precious for the living beings there. The salt masses formed due to the withdrawal of water have turned into a visual feast. They have become the focus of interest for visitors. We are saddened by such warmth during these months. Hopefully, if we receive rain soon, it will be more fruitful for both Tuz Lake and our region," he said.
