The Swiss bank UBS reported that the number of billionaires has risen to 2,919, with a total wealth of 15.8 trillion dollars. UBS published the Billionaire Targets Report.
According to the report, despite the fluctuations, the total wealth of billionaires reached a new high with the overall increase in technology stocks and financial asset prices.
The number of billionaires increased by 8.8% this year compared to last year, rising to 2,919, while their total wealth rose by 13% to reach $15.8 trillion.
THE INCREASE IN WEALTH WAS THE SECOND HIGHEST ANNUAL RISE SINCE 2021
Geographically, the Americas led with a 15.5% increase in billionaire wealth, reaching $7.5 trillion.
The wealth of billionaires in the Asia-Pacific region increased by 11.1% to $4.2 trillion, while the wealth in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa rose by 10.4% to $4.1 trillion.
The wealth of technology billionaires increased by 23.8% to $3 trillion. Other sectors where billionaire wealth is concentrated include consumer and retail, industrial, and financial services.
This year, 91 individuals joined the ranks of billionaires by inheriting a total of $297.8 billion. The amount of inherited wealth increased by 36% compared to last year.
AT LEAST $5.9 TRILLION WILL BE INHERITED BY THEIR CHILDREN
According to the bank's calculations, it is projected that at least $5.9 trillion will be inherited by billionaire children over the next 15 years.
During the same period, 196 entrepreneurs became billionaires through their own efforts, with their total wealth estimated at $386.5 billion.
Globally, the number of male billionaires is 2,545, while the number of female billionaires is 374.
Among the biggest concerns of billionaires for the upcoming year are tariffs, major geopolitical conflicts, and political uncertainty.
