NINE FOOTBALL PLAYERS DETAINED FROM THE SUPER LEAGUE

The prosecutor's office confirmed that a large portion of these football players had bet on their own teams' matches.
OPERATION CARRIED OUT IN THE EARLY MORNING HOURS
As part of the investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, simultaneous operations were carried out in many provinces in the early morning hours.
In addition to professional football players, some club executives and well-known figures in the football world were also detained.
AHMET ÇAKAR: I DON'T KNOW
Among those detained is former referee and sports commentator Ahmet Çakar. While being taken to the courthouse, Çakar responded to a reporter's question, "Why were you detained?" with "I don't know."
MERT HAKAN AND METEHAN BALTACI DETAINED
The two most notable names in the investigation:
- Mert Hakan Yandaş (Fenerbahçe)
- Metehan Baltacı (Galatasaray)
According to the prosecutor's statement:
Metehan Baltacı was detained for betting on his own match, while Mert Hakan Yandaş was found to have bet through another person. The statements of both players will be critical to the course of the investigation.
SANCAR AND ÇELİK ARE ALSO ON THE LIST
Other important names detained:
- Murat Sancak, former president of Adana Demirspor
- Emrah Çelik, vice president of Antalyaspor
It was reported that both individuals were included in the investigation due to suspicious financial transactions.
DETAILED STATEMENT FROM THE PROSECUTOR'S OFFICE
The Chief Public Prosecutor's Office highlighted the following points in its statement expanding the scope of the investigation:
27 football players bet on their own teams' matches.
Mert Hakan Yandaş was detected betting through another person.
Findings were found indicating match-fixing in the Ankaraspor–Nazilli Belediyespor and Ümraniyespor–Giresunspor matches.
Seven people, including Ahmet Çakar, Murat Sancak, and Zorbay Küçük, were detained due to bank transactions.
Out of a total of 46 suspects, 35 were caught, and it was determined that 5 were abroad.
