The Chilean athlete had been skydiving since 2013 and was working as a physiotherapist. A tragic accident occurred in Brazil. 40-year-old experienced parachutist Carolina Muñoz Kennedy lost her life due to both her main and reserve parachutes failing to open.
The incident took place in the city of Boituva. In the footage of Kennedy's last jump, the parachutist is seen spinning uncontrollably as she fell. When the reserve parachute also failed to open, she crashed to the ground at high speed. Emergency teams arrived at the scene immediately, but Kennedy, who was taken to the hospital, could not be saved.
Chilean by birth and living in Brazil for five years, Kennedy was an experienced parachutist. She had been practicing this sport since 2013. She also worked as a physiotherapist and chiropractor. On the day of the accident, she had made several successful jumps, and this was to be her last jump.
The police seized the parachute equipment used by Kennedy to investigate the incident. The Brazilian Parachute Federation also launched a separate investigation into the accident.
While witnesses were in shock from the incident, Kennedy's friends paid tribute to her on social media. Her friend Daniela expressed her feelings with the words, "My beautiful friend, thank you for being in my life."
