Psychiatrist Prof. Dr. Arif Verimli's warning about the "age of anger" five years ago is now being experienced one by one. In a post he made five years ago, Verimli stated, "This era is not the digital age, it is the age of anger," and he has republished this statement. Verimli, who said, "I am not a prophet," emphasized that his aim is to draw attention to the mental health of the country.

Prof. Dr. Arif Verimli, who has been a part of Müge Anlı's program for many years, actively uses social media. Recently, Verimli's post from five years ago has come to the forefront regarding the events happening in Turkey.

HE HAD POSTED "AGE OF ANGER"

In Istanbul, 16-year-old Atlas Çağlayan was killed by a 15-year-old boy. After Atlas's death, his mother also received threatening messages. While this tragic event has been on the agenda in Turkey for days, Arif Verimli reposted a message he made years ago. In that message, Verimli stated, "Look, these days are our good days. We will have beautiful-faced victims. People will kill each other and poor animals for no reason. Because this age is not the digital age, it is the age of anger. Drug use, violence, pandemic, and the new world order will bring violence."

"I AM NOT A SEER"

By reposting what he shared years ago, Arif Verimli stated, "I am not a seer. I am a psychiatrist who loves my country very much. I wrote these truths five years ago because my job is not to sell hope to people for personal gain; it is to try to make my voice heard for the mental health of my country."

WHAT HAD HAPPENED?

On January 14, a fight broke out between Atlas Çağlayan and E.Ç. (15), who did not know each other beforehand, in front of a baklava shop in the Mehmet Nesih Özmen neighborhood due to a "you looked at me" argument.

During the fight, E.Ç. stabbed Atlas Çağlayan with a knife referred to as a "switchblade," and Çağlayan, who was taken to Bağcılar Training and Research Hospital, could not be saved despite intervention.

Police teams caught E.Ç. and his friends with the knife used in the incident and took them to the police station for questioning.

After their procedures at the police station, the underage suspect E.Ç. was sent to the courthouse and was arrested by the duty magistrate.
