A 38-year-old patient who fell ill after receiving 'atom' serum in Afyonkarahisar has died. Among the allegations related to the clinic, there is information that one of the partners of the clinic had previously been prosecuted and had their diploma revoked. Following the incident, a comprehensive investigation has been initiated.
On January 13, an incident occurred at a private clinic in the city center of Afyonkarahisar; according to allegations, Mehmet Gündoğan, a father of two and the owner of a company operating in the furniture sector, visited the clinic with flu complaints while preparing for a pilgrimage. Here, Gündoğan was connected to a yellow serum without any tests being conducted. However, as the serum was nearing its end, Gündoğan reported difficulty breathing and collapsed. Subsequently, it is claimed that the clinic staff could not intervene. About 10 minutes later, a friend who accompanied Gündoğan called the 112 Emergency Call Center for help upon seeing Gündoğan's condition. Gündoğan was taken to Afyonkarahisar State Hospital by ambulance that arrived following the report, and after intervention, he was placed in intensive care. However, Gündoğan passed away after 20 hours in intensive care.
DOCTOR'S DIPLOMA CANCELED IN A CASE WITH 7 DEFENDANTS
One allegation that emerged regarding the clinic where the incident occurred was shocking. It was claimed that one of the partners of the clinic was a doctor who was tried for the allegation of 'changing the blood test of businessman B.B. after he was taken to a state hospital following an alcohol-related traffic accident' in 2022. The doctor named Mert B. was one of the 7 defendants in the case opened at the Afyonkarahisar 2nd Heavy Criminal Court, and he came to the forefront after his medical diploma was canceled following the trial.
NAME REMOVED FROM SIGNBOARD AFTER DIPLOMA CANCELED
While Mert B.'s case was ongoing, it was stated that his relationship with the state hospital was terminated within the framework of an administrative investigation. It was recorded that after the cancellation of Mert B.'s diploma, he opened the clinic where the yellow serum incident occurred in the Uydukent neighborhood with another doctor and then started operating it. After Mert B.'s diploma was canceled by court order, it was claimed that following complaints made to the Provincial Health Directorate, Mert B.'s name was removed from the clinic's signboard, but the individual continued to work there under the title of doctor.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the investigation opened by the Provincial Health Directorate regarding the incident where the tragedy occurred is ongoing.
