Thai YouTuber Natthamon Khongchak, who is accused of defrauding her followers of 55 million dollars, traveled to Indonesia using a fake identity. The scammer was exposed when she couldn't sing the national anthem. An arrest warrant has been issued for Khongchak, and she was found in Malaysia. Khongchak will be tried in Thailand with a request for a 70-year prison sentence.

Khongchak, who uses the pseudonyms Leah and Suchata on her YouTube channel, produced video blog content sharing snippets of her daily life. She caught the attention of her followers with her intriguing image. Before gaining fame on YouTube, the influencer had a brief singing career, and later, thanks to the income from her YouTube broadcasts and her status as a social media influencer, she established her own skincare brand named Costina in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

Khongchak showcased her luxurious lifestyle by sharing photos of high-end cars, watches, and properties. She later advertised special courses for those who wanted to become currency traders.

GAINED TRUST, DEFRAUDED

With her shared luxurious lifestyle, she gained the trust of her followers. After winning the trust of most, the 29-year-old YouTuber directed her followers to make a hefty investment in Forex trading. Allegedly, she promised her followers that they would earn up to 35% high returns on their investments. She guided them to invest in currency trading. According to The Nation, more than 6,000 people gave her money to invest. However, the promised profits from these investments were not realized.

REWARD PLACED FOR THE YOUTUBER

When Khongchak's investors did not receive the payments they were supposed to, they filed complaints. According to Fortune, in response to the complaints, the YouTuber claimed that she lost all the money due to a major trading error. She asserted that if they gave her some time, she would repay her debt.

DISAPPEARED

Khongchak later stopped responding to messages on Instagram. Thai police issued an arrest warrant for the influencer, who collected about 55 million dollars from her followers, based on the allegations. It was revealed that the YouTuber, who fled the country, was in Malaysia.

Khongchak, whose accent was deemed suspicious, was asked by officials to recite the Indonesian national anthem, and when she failed, she was caught. Khongchak, who confessed to all her crimes, will be tried in Thailand with a request for 70 years in prison, along with her mother who was with her.
