The proposal of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş, which envisages an increase in the fare tariff of public transportation vehicles between 38.9% and 50%, was accepted by the General Assembly of the Transportation Coordination Center.

FULL TICKET INCREASED FROM 15 LIRA TO 21 LIRA

The proposed fare increase, which was brought up for private public buses and private public transportation vehicles as well as ANKARAY, metro and EGO buses, was prepared by the EGO General Directorate and submitted to the UKOME General Assembly. According to the new price tariff accepted by UKOME with majority vote, the full fare increased from 15 lira to 21 lira, the student fare increased from 7.5 lira to 10.5 lira, and the teacher fare increased from 11 lira to 15.50 lira. A 40% increase in public transportation fees in Ankara

SHORT DISTANCE IN MINIBUS 25 TL

It was decided that the passenger fee for short distance in minibuses would be 25 lira instead of 17 lira, and the passenger fee for long distance would be 30 lira instead of 20 lira. On the other hand, the credit card boarding fee, which was 18 lira, increased to 25 lira; and the bus fee for 442 Esenboğa Airport-Kızılay and Ankara Intercity Terminal (AŞTİ) route increased from 50 lira to 75 lira.

THE NEW TARIFF WILL BE EFFECTIVE ON AUGUST 1ST

In the statement made by ABB regarding the decision taken by UKOME, it was reminded that the transportation fees in the city were last increased on July 24, 2023. It was emphasized that after the increase in public transportation fees last year, the minimum wage increased by 49% and the price of diesel increased by 80%.

In the statement, it was stated that EGO General Directorate incurs a monthly loss of 400 million lira and "This loss is covered by ABB's other budget items. Only the fuel price increases made in the last month will add an additional 20 million lira to the monthly loss of 400 million lira. In addition, the ratio of the number of passengers transported free of charge or at a discount to the total number of passengers transported has reached 59%, with approximately 6 out of 10 passengers being transported free of charge or at a discount. When the fare tariffs of 30 metropolitan municipalities are compared, it can be seen that the full fare per kilometer is 0.71 lira and the student fare is 0.40 lira nationwide. In our current fare tariff, the full fare per kilometer is 0.41 lira and the student fare is 0.20 lira, which is significantly below the national average. For all these reasons, it has become necessary to increase our ticket fare in a reasonable amount without fully reflecting the public transportation input costs to our citizens in order to ensure the survival of our organization."
