According to the regulations of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, the use of winter tires is mandatory for all commercial vehicles between December 1 and April 1. Although there is no legal obligation for private cars, the use of winter tires is recommended. Businesses that do not install winter tires on their vehicles, despite the obligation, will face a fine of 4,069 lira for the year 2024. The penalty for not installing winter tires will be updated as of January 1, 2025, in accordance with the revaluation rate to be announced by the Ministry of Treasury and Finance. TIRE CHANGE FEE STARTS FROM 600 LIRAThe fee for tire removal and installation is 600 lira for 13 and 14-inch rims, 750 lira for 15 and 16-inch rims, 850 lira for 17-inch rims, 950 lira for 18-inch rims, 1,100 lira for 19-inch rims, and 1,250 lira for 20 and 21-inch rims. The fee for tire hotel services is charged at the same level as the tire change fee for 4 tires. VEHICLES WITHOUT WINTER TIRES WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CONTINUE ON THE ROADWith the implementation initiated to prevent vehicles without winter tires from blocking the road and causing inconvenience to people, it is aimed to prevent road closures during snowy weather for those who have not taken precautions according to winter conditions. Teams will conduct stricter inspections of vehicles that set out without precautions and preparations, and will not allow vehicles that do not have winter tires and are not suitable for winter conditions to continue on the road. Winter tires provide better grip and high safety on wet, snowy, and muddy surfaces compared to summer tires at temperatures below 7 degrees. Moreover, drivers need to check the production dates when purchasing tires for their vehicles. Even if the tires have not been used, they have a certain shelf life. Tires that have been stored lose their properties and do not maintain balance.
