The funeral of Turgut Karataş, known as Ankaralı Turgut, who passed away at the age of 61 due to lung cancer, was held.

A funeral prayer was held for Karataş, who died yesterday at the Etlik City Hospital where he was receiving treatment, following the noon prayer at Mamak Ortaköy Cemetery. The prayer was attended by Karataş's family, as well as Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Batuhan Mumcu, independent Ankara MP Adnan Beker, Mamak Mayor Veli Gündüz Şahin, some artists from Ankara, and his admirers.

THEY STRUGGLED TO CALM HIS DAUGHTER

The children and admirers of Ankaralı Turgut shed tears as they arrived at the funeral. Eylem Boran, who had been taking care of her father recently, struggled to stand and was helped to calm down by her relatives. Ankaralı Turgut's son Haydar also expressed his sorrow during the funeral. His son said, "We will try to keep his works alive, God willing."

His daughters wept as they embraced Karataş's coffin. Turgut Karataş's funeral was buried at Ortaköy Cemetery after the prayer. Singer Hüseyin Kağıt, who attended the funeral, stated in a press release, "May our Turkey be in peace. We are here with my masters. Our masters are passing away one by one. May God grant long life to those who remain. I wish my condolences to his grieving family."

The singer known as Çubuklu Yaşar from Ankara said, "Turgut teacher is one of our pioneers, from the old days. We are very saddened. We came together with our artist friends. May we all be in peace."

Turgut Karataş, who was one of the leading figures in spreading Ankara folk dances to a wider audience, had also appeared in television series and programs.

ANKARALI TURGUT'S LAST WISH

However, the last wish of the famous singer, which emerged after his death, deeply saddened his admirers. In an interview he gave in previous years, Karataş stated, "I have no property left in this world. I only have this saz (a musical instrument). I would be happy if you put it in a museum in Ankara. This is my last wish to you," indicating that he left behind only his music and saz.
