Actress Pelin Karahan and her husband have ended up in court due to a dispute with their landlords, whom they had paid three years' rent in advance. The landlord family has initiated legal proceedings, claiming that they have been victimized by the famous couple who refused to vacate the property despite warnings. Karahan's husband, who expressed his dissatisfaction with the landlord, stated, "We have spent $500,000 because we intended to buy the house. They demanded four times the rent and failed to see our good intentions. We will move out."
In 2014, actress Pelin Karahan and businessman Bedri Güntay, who got married, became involved in a lawsuit with the landlord they paid three years' rent in advance.
ALLEGED VIOLATION OF EVICTION COMMITMENT
According to journalist Birsen Altuntaş' report; Murat-Açelya Öztürk couple rented their house to Pelin Karahan and Bedri Güntay couple in 2020. Approximately two months after the signing of the lease agreement, as a result of the negotiations between the parties, it was decided that the rented villa would be vacated on September 18, 2023, and an eviction commitment was signed and delivered to the Öztürk family. However, the famous couple did not move out of the house on the eviction date, so the landlord initiated an execution proceeding. The Güntay couple objected to the execution proceeding, stating that the signature on the contract did not belong to them. The Öztürk family also filed a lawsuit for the cancellation of the objection and the eviction of the house. The trial of both parties is ongoing in the Civil Court of First Instance.
3 EXECUTION PROCEEDINGS AND 2 LAWSUITS
In addition, the landlord stated that the Güntay couple also caused them to suffer in terms of rent and filed 3 execution proceedings and 2 lawsuits for this reason. The family also claimed that they wanted to hang a "for sale" sign for the villa they wanted to sell, but the Güntay family did not allow them and did not show the villa to potential buyers.
BEDRİ GÜNTAY: WE SPENT 500 THOUSAND DOLLARS ON THE HOUSE, THEY DEMANDED A 4-FOLD RENT INCREASE
Bedri Güntay, who is in a legal dispute with the landlord, stated in his statement after the events, "When we moved into the house, we had already paid three years' rent in advance. We had spent 500 thousand dollars on the house because we intended to buy it. Later, the landlord did not accept our 2-fold price increase offer, citing inflation. They demanded a 4-fold increase. They also raised the initial price they wanted for selling the house to a ridiculous amount. We showed all the goodwill we could, but we did not see the same attitude. We are already looking for a new house, we will move out," he said.
