An English fan who came to Istanbul for the UEFA Europa League final stated that they paid 3,200 TL for a 3.7-kilometer taxi ride. The tourist, who said the same distance cost around 580 TL on the return trip, advised fans to use ride-hailing apps.
A British fan who came to Istanbul for the UEFA Europa League final rebelled against the taxi fare. The football fan, who arrived in Istanbul before the final between Freiburg and Aston Villa, described the incident.
3,200 TL FOR A 3.7-KILOMETER TRIP
The British fan stated that he paid 3,200 TL for only a 3.7-kilometer distance for the yellow taxi he used to go to Beşiktaş Tüpraş Stadium. The tourist noted that this fee corresponds to approximately 75 pounds sterling.
THE DIFFERENCE REVEALED ON THE RETURN
The same fan said that on the return trip, he used a ride-hailing app and paid approximately 580 TL for the same distance. The British football fan reacted due to the huge difference between the two fares.
CALL TO "USE AN APP"
The fan, who described the incident, advised football fans coming to Istanbul to prefer ride-hailing apps. He also stated that he did not want to get into an argument because his son was with him.
