Due to the ongoing discussions in Turkish football, the Turkish Football Federation, which has been suffering from referee-related issues, is facing a new chaos. The referees and observers dismissed by the federation have turned to the courts. THEY SUED TFFNineteen referees and observers dismissed by the Central Referee Committee applied to the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals (BAM) the day before yesterday to annul their own decisions, which were also approved by the Arbitration Board. According to the Constitution, there is no right to appeal against Arbitration decisions. However, the referees and observers took a different path this time, claiming that the Arbitration Board was unlawfully established, and approached BAM regarding this matter. In the lawsuit filed by Halil İbrahim Atabay, who represents Bahattin Şimşek, Burak Şeker, Murat Erdoğan, Mert Güzenge, Serkan Tokat, Hakan Ceylan, Kutluhan Bilgiç, Mustafa Sönmez, Erdem Bayık, Serkan Ok, İsmail Şencan, Alpaslan Dedeş, Emre Altun, Orkun Aktaş, Mesut Çarık, Taner Gizenci, and Süleyman Abay, it was argued that the Arbitration Board was formed in violation of procedure and law, and therefore all decisions made against their clients were unlawful. It was claimed that after the departure of President Ali Günay and members Cevat Okutan and Ali Savok from the initial formation of the Arbitration Board, Burhan Karaloğlu and Ahmet Tüfekçi were appointed from outside as substitute members, which was argued to be unlawful. For this reason, the court was approached. THEY MAY RETURN TO THEIR DUTIESLawyer Atabay stated that if the request of the referees and observers is accepted, all decisions made by the current Arbitration Board until today will be considered "null and void," the penalties will be invalid, and there will be a situation where the collected amounts will need to be refunded. Meanwhile, Abdülkadir Bitigen and Tugay Kaan Numanoğlu also independently applied to the Istanbul Regional Court of Appeals for the same reasons. On the other hand, video assistant referees Mustafa Öğretmenoğlu and Koray Gençerler accepted the TFF decision after their refereeing was terminated and did not appeal to the Arbitration Board.
