In the scope of the investigation conducted by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against new-generation criminal organizations, 24 individuals, including public officials, police officers, and lawyers, have been arrested.
A massive operation was carried out on July 20 against dirty networks of relationships attempting to create space for new-generation criminal organizations. In the operation coordinated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and conducted simultaneously in 12 provinces, 50 suspects, including police officers, customs guards, and lawyers, were taken into custody and referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station. Among them, 24 suspects, including public officials, police officers, and lawyers, were arrested.
An investigation was launched by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding individuals who were found to have contacted new-generation armed criminal organizations and, by entering into mutually beneficial relationships, obtained information related to inquiries such as 'criminal record, arrest record, red notice, vehicle annotation, customs passage' in investigations conducted by judicial authorities.
EXACTLY 27 PUBLIC OFFICIALS
Within the scope of the investigation, a simultaneous operation was carried out on July 20 in Muğla, Bursa, Edirne, Çanakkale, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Diyarbakır, İzmir, Balıkesir, Ankara, and Kayseri, centered in Istanbul. In the operation, a detention decision was made for a total of 50 suspects, including 2 probation officers, 1 court clerk, 1 deputy director of customs enforcement, 15 customs enforcement officers, 10 police officers, and 2 lawyers. 37 people were taken into custody in the operation.
24 SUSPECTS ARRESTED
In line with the directive, Istanbul Provincial Police Department teams took action. On July 20, operations were carried out at identified addresses in Istanbul, Muğla, Bursa, Edirne, Çanakkale, Sivas, Tekirdağ, Diyarbakır, İzmir, Balıkesir, Ankara, and Kayseri.
In the operations conducted, 37 suspects were taken into custody. After their procedures at the police station were completed, the individuals were referred to the Bakırköy Courthouse. Of the suspects whose statements were taken at the prosecutor's office, 24 were arrested and sent to prison. 13 individuals were released under judicial control measures.
