Servet Böcek, who passed away after his wife and children due to suspected poisoning, was laid to rest amid tears. The grieving family was engulfed in an indescribable sorrow following the loss of four lives in quick succession. Grandfather Yılmaz Böcek called for the punishment of those responsible.
Father Servet Böcek, who lost his life after a week-long battle for survival following a poisoning incident in Istanbul, was laid to rest in his hometown Afyonkarahisar amid tears, while his father Yılmaz Böcek, who lost his son, grandchildren, and daughter-in-law, asked, "If this chemical was so powerful, why is there no antidote?" He demanded that all the perpetrators face justice.
BURIED NEXT TO HIS WIFE AND CHILDREN
The incident occurred on the night of November 12 at a hotel in the Fatih district of Istanbul. According to reports, Servet and Çiğdem Böcek, who came to Istanbul from Germany for a vacation, along with their children, 6-year-old Kadir and 3-year-old Masal, fell ill during the night and were taken to the hospital. In the incident, mother Çiğdem Böcek and her two children lost their lives, while father Servet Böcek was intubated. Father Servet Böcek also lost his life the night before last after a week-long struggle for survival.
Servet Böcek's funeral was brought to his hometown Afyonkarahisar from Istanbul yesterday evening. Böcek was buried next to his wife and children after the funeral prayer held at the Müslümana Mosque in the district.
WHY IS THERE NO ANTIDOTE?
After the funeral, Yılmaz Böcek, the father of Servet Böcek, made statements to the press regarding the incident, expressing his desire for the matter to be clarified as soon as possible and for those responsible to be held accountable, saying:
"My child went to the hospital by taxi on his own, and their records have come out. But how can they send back a patient who arrives like that without any observation? Is human life that cheap? It shouldn't be, it's very sad. It's a shame for this country, for these people. Someone needs to put an end to this. If this chemical was so powerful, why is there no antidote? If you are giving a license for this chemical substance, every chemical substance that comes out should have an antidote. The authorities themselves already said, 'Even if they came to us, there is no antidote for the toxin that enters the body,' then how did you allow a substance that does not exist? This incident will continue for 2 days with the support of the media, then life will go on, that's the reality. But I will not let this matter go, I will fight for justice until the end. Whoever the perpetrators are, let them face their punishment and never see the light of day. I will also follow up on this."
IT WAS HIS BIRTHDAY TOMORROW
Grieving father Yılmaz Böcek also recalled that his grandson Kadir Böcek was born on November 20, 2019, saying, "I wish my Kadir had lived so we could celebrate his birthday together. They took them away from us. Lives were lost for nothing. There is no birthday like that anymore. We will only be able to make do with the pictures we have left. We will deceive ourselves, there is nothing else."
