An interesting and effective method of combating the brown marmorated stink bug has been developed in Ordu. Lawyer Mehmet Yıldırım, who lives in the Eyüplü neighborhood of the Altınordu district, buys each brown marmorated stink bug brought to him alive for a symbolic price of 1 Turkish Lira. Yıldırım stated, "This harmful insect is spreading rapidly not only in Turkey but also around the world."

Mehmet Yıldırım, who is also engaged in farming, stated that the brown marmorated stink bug, which has started to appear in their neighborhood this year, has caused serious damage to crops. To encourage citizens, he has started to buy live stink bugs for a fee. The collected harmful insects are delivered to the Hazelnut Research Institute for the purpose of breeding samurai wasps. Samurai wasps are known as the natural enemy of the brown marmorated stink bug and are used effectively in biological control.
