ÖZEL WENT TO MANISA INSTEAD OF BEŞTEPE
CHP Chairman Özgür Özel did not attend the reception held at Beştepe after not receiving a positive response from President Erdoğan to his call during the party's group meeting, "This year, let's hold the Republic Reception at the Çankaya Mansion in accordance with Atatürk's will." Instead, Özel participated in the torchlight procession organized by the Metropolitan Municipality in his hometown Manisa after the events celebrating the 101st anniversary of the Republic in Ankara.
Özel, who walked with his wife Didem Özel and the Manisa protocol, gave a message of unity against terrorism in his statement. Özel said: "We arrived in our hometown this evening. We were at the ceremonies in Ankara during the day. The Republic Day is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in Manisa. I had called on all our citizens 2 days ago. Terrorism is trying to intimidate us, trying to scare us."
"THE BEST RESPONSE TO TERRORISM IS HIGH PARTICIPATION IN THIS CELEBRATION"
The best response to terrorism is such high participation in this celebration. Today, hundreds of thousands flowed to Anıtkabir in Ankara. It brings me great joy to see my hometown Manisa like this. Both the external enemies of this country and the enemies of the Republic who do not show the necessary respect to Atatürk's legacy received the best response from the nation today. Turkey is a very strong state. Turkey is unbreakable, standing tall. We will not succumb to fear or terrorism."
Özel then proceeded to the concert of Fazıl Say and Serenad Bağcan, which will be held in Cumhuriyet Square with the Manisa protocol.
