Applications have started for the social housing project, named the 'Housing Project of the Century,' which aims to provide 500,000 social housing units. While citizens have shown great interest in the project, hundreds of meters of queues formed in front of the relevant branches in Eskişehir. Those dreaming of owning a home waited in line for hours.

The applications for the 'Century Housing Project', the largest social housing initiative in the history of the Republic, have begun.
PHASED APPLICATION SYSTEM DID NOT HELP
A phased application system was implemented based on the last digit of the identity number to prevent congestion during the application process. However, this application could not prevent the crowding.
HUNDREDS OF METERS OF QUEUE FORMED
In front of a branch located on Sakarya-1 Street in Eskişehir, hundreds of meters of queue formed from the early hours of the morning. Citizens waiting in line for hours to own a home under the assurance of the Housing Development Administration (TOKİ) expressed their satisfaction with the project. On the other hand, it was observed that there were tense moments in the queue from time to time.
"WE GOT IN LINE, IF WE GET OUT, IT'S OUR LUCK"
58-year-old Ergün Coşkun, who got in line at 09:00 and was still waiting around 14:30, said, "We are waiting for a house. We got in line, if we get out, it's our luck. We will try and see. There is quite a queue, it seems to be about 1 kilometer long. Hopefully, it will work out, we are hopeful. If hope ends, life ends. They have directed all the people here, as you can see, there is a big problem. I don't know if the processes inside are progressing slowly. I can't see inside. It would have been better if they had divided the crowd, right?"
"PROCESSES ARE GOING A BIT SLOW"
Engin Sert stated, "I have been waiting since 07:00. There is a TOKİ queue here. The processes are going a bit slow. It is very crowded, there is a queue of 20-30 meters."
LAST DAY IS DECEMBER 19
Applications for the project, which aims to provide low-income citizens with the opportunity to own homes under suitable conditions, will end on December 19, with 500,000 houses to be built across Turkey.
