The question of who will replace Ekrem İmamoğlu, who has been removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul, has become a topic of curiosity. In the CHP circles, three potential names are being mentioned to take İmamoğlu's seat. It has been stated that Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş is among these three names. If Dedetaş is elected, she will become the first female mayor of Istanbul.
After being arrested in a corruption investigation and being removed from the position of İBB President by the Ministry of Interior, the question of who will replace Ekrem İmamoğlu has become a matter of curiosity.
The İBB Council will convene on Wednesday, March 26, at 13:00 to elect the Deputy Mayor. Shortly before the election at İBB, potential names to take İmamoğlu's seat have started to be mentioned in CHP circles. According to a report on Medyaradar, three names are coming to the forefront.

The "Brotherhood" formula will be activated in the election to be held at İBB on Wednesday. Büyükçekmece Mayor Hasan Akgün is drawing attention as the strongest candidate to take İmamoğlu's seat.
Mithat Bülent Özmen SİNEM DEDETAŞ'S NAME IS ALSO MENTIONED Shortly after the local elections on March 31, Üsküdar Mayor Sinem Dedetaş, who stated "I am ready for the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality," is also being discussed. Another name mentioned besides Dedetaş is Eyüpsultan Mayor Mithat Bülent Özmen. It is said that Özmen, who served as the general manager at İGDAŞ after the 2019 elections, will not be unfamiliar with this position.

IF İMAMOĞLU RETURNS, HE CAN RECLAIM HIS POSITION The term of the newly elected mayor will be limited to the term of the president they were elected to replace. However, if İmamoğlu returns before his term ends, he can reclaim his seat.
THE MAJORITY IN İBB COUNCIL IS CHP There are 314 seats in the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Council. The CHP has 185, the AK Party has 120, the MHP has 7, and the BBP has 2 members, so the voting is expected to conclude by the third round at the latest. A similar situation exists in Büyükçekmece, where the CHP is represented by 24 members and the AK Party by 10 in the 37-member Municipal Council.
VOTING MAY END IN 3 ROUNDS The election will be conducted by secret ballot among the municipal council members. In the first two votes, two-thirds of the total number of members will be required, and in the third vote, a simple majority of the total number of members will be sought. If a simple majority cannot be achieved in the third vote, a fourth vote will be held for the two candidates with the most votes in that round. In case of a tie, a draw will be held.
