The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation into 9 contracted soldiers serving at the National Defense University Air Force Academy following a tip-off about drug use. While 3 individuals were arrested, 6 were released under judicial control.
The Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office had detained 9 personnel in the status of contracted soldiers following a tip-off regarding drug use at the Air Force Academy Command of the National Defense University. Of the suspects referred to the courthouse, 3 were arrested by the Duty Magistrate Court, while 6 were released under judicial control with a 'travel ban' condition.
9 SUSPECTS HAD BEEN DETAINED
An investigation was initiated by the Bakırköy Chief Public Prosecutor's Office regarding some personnel in the status of contracted soldiers serving under the command of the National Defense University (MSU) Air Force Academy, based on a tip-off from the Air Force Academy. In the tip-off petition written by the Air Force Academy, it was stated that the soldiers committed the crime of 'purchasing, accepting, or possessing drugs or stimulants for use, or using drugs or stimulants.' Following the tip-off, the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office acted upon it, and with the instruction given to the Istanbul Police Department, 9 suspects were detained. After the interrogation process, blood, hair, and urine samples were taken from the suspects who were referred to the Forensic Medicine Institution.
6 SUSPECTS RELEASED UNDER JUDICIAL CONTROL
It was learned that an investigation was also initiated regarding the crimes of 'procurement of narcotic substances' and 'facilitating use,' and in this context, the detention periods of the suspects were extended. After the procedures at the gendarmerie, of the suspects referred to the courthouse, 3 named M.Ö., E.D.A., and H.Y. were arrested by the Duty Magistrate Court, while 6 suspects named H.U., M.A.D., A.Y.I., M.Ş., A.K., and M.A.C. were released under judicial control with a 'travel ban' condition.
