İznik, the historic district of Bursa, witnessed a colorful and highly interesting wedding entertainment where local traditions were kept alive. The traditional "groom's ordeal," inflicted by his friends on Tolga Küçükçakır, who joined his life with Dilan Küçükçakır, before the wedding, left the audience in stitches.
HE WAS DRESSED IN SALVAR AND MAKEUP WAS APPLIED TO HIS FACE Dilan Küçükçakır and Tolga Küçükçakır attended the entertainment organized for them by their friends in Mustafa Kemal Paşa Mahallesi Atatürk Yolu Sokak on the morning of their wedding day. According to the traditional entertainment, the groom and the best man had to perform tasks prepared by their friends. First, the groom's friends dressed him in şalvar (baggy trousers), hung a bell around his neck, applied makeup on his face with lipstick, and wrote 'Dilan' on his forehead. The groom, who was asked to cook an egg using an empty tube, also ate the egg cooked with plenty of oil, salt, and spices. Then, sitting on a basin placed in the middle of the street by his friends, he was washed with a brush and soapy water. Dilan Küçükçakır watched the events from the wedding car and recorded those moments with her mobile phone. In the finale of the entertainment, the groom, taken to the terrace of his house, attempted to declare his love to the bride Dilan in the car, accompanied by drums, zurna (a wind instrument), and horn sounds.
"WHAT HAPPENED CAN BEFALL EVERY MAN IN İZNİK" While the tradition, maintained for many years in the district, created entertaining moments, Tolga Küçükçakır, who was subjected to his friends' torture-like entertainment, said, "I don't need to explain what happened; everything is evident from my state. In the İznik region, these events probably happen to every man."
"IT WAS ENJOYABLE TO WATCH" Dilan Küçükçakır, who said she watched the events with pleasure from the wedding car, stated, "According to our traditions, we had to experience these moments. It was very enjoyable to watch."
