U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed that his country is in talks with Hamas for the release of hostages, stating, "Yes, we are talking. We are helping Israel in these discussions. Because we are talking about Israeli hostages. We are not doing anything regarding Hamas. I see this as assistance to Israel."
US President Donald Trump made statements about the hostages held by Hamas during a signing ceremony in the Oval Office.
Trump, who stated that he met with a group previously taken hostage by Hamas, said the stories he heard were "incredible," claiming that Hamas treated the hostages poorly.
HOSTAGES HAVE STARTED TO BE RELEASED
Trump noted that the Biden administration has not been able to bring back the hostages, reminding that hostages have started to be released under his administration.
"WE ARE NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT HAMAS"
In response to a question, Trump confirmed the discussions between the US and Hamas, stating, "We are talking to Hamas. In these discussions, we are helping Israel. Because we are talking about Israeli hostages. We are not doing anything about Hamas. I see this as help to Israel," he said. Trump emphasized that the US has not paid any price to bring back the hostages, stating, "There is a difference between talking and paying a price."
